Recycling

The Lilianton Community is proud to announce a new recycling initiative started by local residents. Recycling bins have been placed on Esson Road to encourage the collection of paper, plastic, glass, and tins.

This project not only helps protect the environment but also supports local waste pickers, many of whom are low-income earners who rely on recycling to make a living.

Waste pickers play a vital role in environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation. By collecting and selling recyclables like plastic, cardboard, paper, and metals, they help reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. This not only lowers greenhouse gas emissions but also decreases the demand for new (virgin) materials.
